The Best Part of Grad School

Studying theater was an extraordinary time in my life. I was encouraged to take risks, find courage in vulnerability, and recognize the power of compelling stories.
I was also surrounded by a like-minded group of people who felt a desire to use storytelling as a way of sharing the human condition.
Most importantly, there was no intolerance in that little black box theater. Uncle Vanya could be black, Ophelia a petite girl from Singapore, and not a speck of truth was sacrificed.
If anything, the stories were enriched.
