Give Your Mind a Break

There is a lot of pressure to keep up with the latest trends. We're bombarded by countless social media platforms to look, feel, and act a particular way. As a result, the need to stay creative becomes taxing rather than liberating.

Often times, when I'm wrestling with an idea the best thing I can do for myself is walk away. I've written scripts and decided to just let it sit for 6 months to a year. The insights and perspective I return to the project with can be enlightening.

Sometimes I marvel at how bad an idea was. "What were you thinking?!" I'll say to myself. Other times I'm glad I had the courage to pursue a character, or storyline the way that I did. But that train of thought is only allowed to develop when I let myself breathe a little and allow my mind to take a rest.

Support, nourish, and take care of your creativity by just taking a step back from time to time. You might be surprised by what you discover.
